Prae Obscura is an independent literary horror novelist whose work scrapes along the edges of the psyche, conjuring narratives that blend psychological mystery with indulgence in psychosis, fear, and the supernatural. First observed in this world at a small mountain town on occupied Turtle Island, Prae spent several years surrounded by haunted forests and rotting houses, which he delights in alluding to when crafting scenery. Xe is well-traveled by necessity, once crossing 3000 kilometers over the span of two weeks. A variety of works have influenced xyr decision to publish novels, such as the writings of Rivers Solomon, Hida Viloria, Indrapramit Das, and Stephen Graham Jones.
A visual artist and avid linguaphile, Prae has spent years reading folklore, ecology, and theory, while traversing abandoned spaces, driving through unlit fields at night, escaping attempted murder, viewing the seams in reality, speaking with the dead, and performing the occasional reverse-exorcism. This pursuit of the strange is woven into his writing style, encouraging the audience to drink deep and partake.
When not writing, Prae can be found sitting in the dark either illustrating, creating renders with Z-Brush and Blender, or being told to relax (without success, to date) by a variety of partners. Xe maintains part-time usage of a body coequally shared with several other people (a state of being often referred to as plurality or multiplicity), which influences his schedule in a number of ways. He would prefer to reside in a series of natural caves, and one day will.
He is currently studying both Farsi and Mvskoke, which he will gladly talk about at length for hours at the slightest provocation.
Prae does not abide the use of large language models nor text-to-image models, primarily due to their current use in opposition of workers rights. His work is made by hand and always will be.
